Registration FAQs and Guidelines
Which conference week should I register for?
You need to first determine your grade level. Junior high students are grades 6th through 8th. High school students are grades 9th through 12th (see the simple chart below):
Freshman (9th grade)
Sophomore (10th grade
Junior (11th grade)
Senior (12th grade)
Therefore, the GMI Junior Conferences are for students in grades 6-8, and the GMI Senior Conferences are for students in grades 9-12. The important thing to note here is that you register for a conference based on your current grade level -- not the one you are about to enter next semester.
Here's an example scenario: Bobby is fourteen years old, and is going into 9th grade in the fall. Because Bobby is not yet senior level (he is still currently a junior, in 8th grade), then he will remain in the junior conference for this year. Next year, he will attend the senior conference.
How does registration work for the Mid-Winter Conferences?
The GMI Mid-Winter Youth Conferences are not based on age or grade levels at this time. A Mid-Winter Conference is very different from a Summer Conference, with a completely different schedule, emphasis, and design. Because we only come together for one week (instead of two weeks like the summer), we encourage students in our GMI youth ministries to sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis. At these conferences, we'll always have a greatly varied group (all ages and grades).
What do I need to bring?
